Why I’m Moving to Patreon (and Why It’s a Good Thing for You!)

Hello everyone,

After months of hesitation, countless discussions with fellow Patreon creators, and very serious brainstorming sessions with my cats (who, by the way, are terrible at marketing but excellent at moral support), I’ve decided to make a big change: I’m transitioning from my official SMAOLAB.ORG website to Patreon.

What does this mean for you?

  • The official SMAOLAB.ORG website will stay alive! It will still be updated with news, product announcements, and all the usual good stuff. But if you want to get my plugins (free or paid), access new versions, beta releases, or request support and new features, everything will now be focused on Patreon.

  • Over time, I’ll gradually remove the purchase options from my official website and redirect you to my Patreon shop and subscription plans.

Why this change?

Creating original, high-quality plugins is a long, complex, and deeply rewarding process. But let’s be honest: promotion, making videos, maintaining a website, writing press releases… all of this takes me away from what I truly love: developing new versions, sharing beta releases, brainstorming ideas, and—most importantly—listening to your feedback to make my plugins even better.

I’m not a fan of flashy marketing or overproduced videos. What I do love is showing you how I use my plugins in a direct, no-BS way—sharing my process, my ideas, and my passion. Patreon allows me to do just that, while also giving me the stability and motivation to keep improving and expanding my catalog.

What’s in it for you?

  • More frequent updates: New versions, beta releases, and experimental features will be shared with the Patreon community first.

  • Direct support & influence: Your feedback will shape the future of my plugins. Want a new feature? A tweak? A tutorial? Let’s make it happen together.

  • Exclusive content: For those who want to dive deeper, I’ve created a special subscription plan (“Engaged”) where I’ll share my knowledge, behind-the-scenes insights, and even some development tips.

A big thank you

This transition is a big step for me, and I couldn’t do it without your support. Whether you’ve been with me from the start or you’re just discovering my work, thank you. I’m excited to build this community with you—one where we can create, experiment, and grow together.

Let’s make some noise (the good kind)!

— SMAOLAB
